MYSTERIOUS JOY
“THE STORY OF MY BODY”
Feature Film/90min/English
Psychological Drama/Body Horror
Logline:
The Story of My Body" is a darkly comic exploration of the body’s hidden truths, told through eerie and unsettling anecdotes from each chapter, named after a different body part.
From a mouth that whispers confessions it wasn’t meant to, to an eye that sees things it can never unsee, this film uncovers the quiet horrors and twisted secrets that lie beneath the skin, where humor and dread intertwine in unsettling ways.
Themes: Self-Perception/Awareness/Identity
"The body says what words cannot." (Martha Graham)
Screenwriters Statement:
The Story of My Body is a deeply personal exploration of what our body tells us—often without our control. I have long been fascinated by the idea that the body is not just a physical vessel but an archive of memories, an unreliable narrator that expresses our fears, traumas, and desires in its own often disturbing way.
In my previous work, I have repeatedly explored themes of identity, self-perception, and the fine line between reality and fantasy. But this project goes even further for me: It is a confrontation with the unconscious, with the eerie stories our body tells when we’re not looking—or when we are suddenly forced to do so. The blend of body horror, psychological drama, and dark humor reflects my personal view of the world: that the absurd is often closer to the truth than the obvious. I want to show how fascination and disgust, laughter and fear, beauty and decay are inextricably linked.
With The Story of My Body, I am creating a cinematic world that dives deep into my own fears and obsessions—but also into universal questions: Who are we really when we can no longer control our bodies? And what happens when they begin to speak for themselves?
“THE DINNER”
Mini-Series/ 6 episodes with 45min each/German
Psychological Drama/Chamber Play
Logline:
As Clara, a passionate chef prepares her own special birthday dinner, each course and decoration she arranges unravels a new secret, plunging her into a surreal psychological spiral where hidden truths, distorted memories, and escalating problems blur the line between reality and illusion, before any birthday guests arrive.
Themes: Our own truths/Imagination/Becoming of self
“It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.” (“Alice In Wonderland”)
Statement by the Screenwriter – Natalie MacMahon
With "A Course into the Unknown", I tell the story of a woman who must confront her repressed past in a single evening. Clara, a strong yet internally torn woman, is faced with a truth she has long suppressed on her 50th birthday.
I am fascinated by psychological stories with female protagonists who find themselves at the limits of their perception. Food is more than just a motif – it becomes the key to her memories, each course revealing a new truth.
"A Course into the Unknown" is an intense chamber play full of tension and emotions. A night where nothing is as it seems – and at the end of which awaits a truth that changes everything.

Screenwriter’s Statement – Mysterious Joy
With Mysterious Joy, I explore the silent battles we fight within ourselves—the longing for freedom, the weight of our own limitations, and the mysterious forces that guide us toward our true desires.
At its heart, this film is about listening—to the whispers of the soul, to the unspoken pain that silences us, and to the quiet yet undeniable pull of our inner yearnings. Our protagonist, a melancholic singer lost in the solitude of a late-night recording session, encounters a stranger who forces her to confront the one voice she has been ignoring: her own.
Shot in Esperanto, a language without borders, Mysterious Joy transcends cultural constraints to tell a universal story. It is an Arthouse Drama Noir that lingers in the space between reality and dream, where music, emotion, and mystery intertwine.
If your heart could speak, would you dare to listen?
